I’m Cathie, your Cape Cod family and maternity photographer, and I have a confession to make:
The thing I love most about my work isn’t getting the most gorgeous photos—it's getting to play memory maker.
Emeralds have historically been associated with improving memory. And as a person with an admittedly bad memory, I’ve always looked to photographs to help me find my way back.
Going through shoeboxes of old photos has always been my way of filling in the gaps where my mind fails. Each image is a little ticket back in time. In one picture, I can see my bedroom in the house where we lived until I was four. In another, I get to visit with relatives who had since left the world. In the next, I can laugh at my sisters and me wearing all plaid, sitting on our plaid couch in the 70s!
In college, I took a darkroom photography class, but it wasn’t until my nephew was born years later that I fell in love with being behind the camera. How could I not with such a cute subject to photograph? I started taking lessons and doing more sessions with family and friends. Before I knew it, my business had snowballed into something more fulfilling and wonderful than I could have ever imagined.
Since 2013, I’ve photographed hundreds of families of all kinds, every one of them beautiful in their own authentic way.
And having lived here nearly all my life, I can also say that the backdrop of Cape Cod is the perfect place for relaxed, natural photographs. My wife, son, and I love the pace and charm of life on the Cape.
As a mom, I’ve come to appreciate in a new way how fast pregnancy and each stage of childhood flies by. I know how hard it is to get in front of the camera. But you deserve to give this gift to yourself and to your family—windows back to these days of tiny sandy toes, family cuddle puddles, and all the craziness and love of this season of life. And what better way to remember your trip, capture the joy of pregnancy, or celebrate a family milestone?
